Calcutta: Sourav Ganguly has proposed that the CAB host an All-India invitation tournament in the lead-up to the Ranji Trophy from next year.
At the CAB coaching committee meeting on Thursday, it was also decided to pick the pool of 25 players each in different categories by January.
Sourav is the chairman of the committee. Bengal coach Ashok Malhotra and CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya were present among others at the meeting.
The pool of players would be picked by clubbing Ranji and Under-25 players together while there would be separate pools for Under-19 and Under-16 players.
“The only concern for us is the extended monsoon in these parts.
“But Sourav is keen to have something similar on the lines of Buchi Babu meet,” a senior CAB official said.
